The Beginner Ukulele Course

Our Beginner Ukulele Course is an intensive 4 week program designed to kick start the ukulele journey for those that have never played the ukulele before or have limited experience.

What can I expect to learn?

  • We discover the different types and sizes of uke available, find the "best fit" for you, and become familiar with all the important parts of the ukulele and how to tune your uke

  • How to play in the "sweet spot" with correct playing technique that maximises quality sound production

  • An introduction to the musical alphabet and basic chord vocabulary

  • A fundamental grounding in basic chords and common chord progressions

  • How to read simple chord charts and song sheets and where to obtain song material of interest to you

  • Different strumming & finger picking techniques

  • An introduction to TAB notation and playing melody

  • A repertoire of popular songs from different musical genres

At the end of the course you will have the skills to play hundreds of songs and be well placed to continue your progress by yourself or with others.

Course Fees?

The Beginner Ukulele Course fee is $250. This cost includes the cost of all course materials including the course workbook and practice recordings.

Please note there are no refunds or makeup classes for missed lessons. If there are exceptional circumstances whereby a participant is unable to attend the course for any reason, this situation can be discussed with the teacher and arrangements agreed upon.

Once a course has started, you are not entitled to a refund simply because you changed your mind. If you postpone your enrolment to a future course within 5 days of the start date, or after you have commenced a course, you will incur a $25 administration fee.

Course Dates & Venue?

Due to the Covid-19 restrictions surrounding social distancing and the limited number of places we can facilitate in our regular teaching venues, and the large percentage of people in our ukulele community who fall within the "at risk" population, we will not be resuming face-to-face teaching until there is a major change of events.

Online virtual group lessons are fraught with many challenges for music teachers, especially as the unavoidable latency means we cannot all play together due to aural and visual glitches, however, we continue to monitor the situation daily and will let you know if we decide to resume this platform soon.
