Course 1A: Ukulele Lessons for ABSOLUTE beginners!

Our 2 week Intensive Introductory Course is a great way to kick start your ukulele journey if you have never played the ukulele before OR if you have very limited experience.

If you have never played a ukulele before, or have very limited experience, our 2 week intensive Introductory Course is a great way to kick-start your journey.

Absolutely no musical background or experience is necessary. However, it is essential you have an ukulele for the duration of the course.

  • We discover the different types and sizes of uke available, find the "best fit" for you, and become familiar with all the important parts of the ukulele and how to tune your uke

  • How to play in the "sweet spot" with correct playing technique that maximises quality sound production

  • A fundamental grounding in basic chords  and common chord progressions

  • How to read simple chord charts and song sheets and where to obtain song material of interest to you

  • Different strumming & finger picking techniques

  • A repertoire of popular songs from different musical genres

  • At the end of the course you will have the skills to play hundreds of songs and be well placed to continue your progress by yourself or with others.

All lessons and courses are held in the Montgomery Theatre, 10 Endeavour Drive, RSL Anzac Village, Narrabeen

Enter the Village via Entrance A (Colooli Rd) or Entrance B (Veterans Pde).

The 2 week intensive course fee is $100.

Residents of the RSL Anzac Village receive a discounted rate reducing the fee to $50.

There are no refunds or makeup classes for missed lessons.

If there are exceptional circumstances whereby a participant is unable to attend the course for any reason, this situation can be discussed with the teacher and arrangements agreed upon.

Once a course has started, you are not entitled to a refund simply because you changed your mind.

If you postpone your enrolment to a future course within 5 days of the start date, or after you have commenced a course, you will incur a $25 administration fee.

The 2 week Course runs from 10am-12pm on 2 consecutive Saturdays:

  • Term 324th & 31st August

  • Term 4: Not running again until 2020!

"We had so much fun learning to play our ukes - it was such a shame it had to end after only 2 weeks!  I had the BEST time and I am looking forward to coming back for a follow up course. You were a great teacher to be able to impart all that information in such a short time."

Trisha, Introductory Course Graduate

"I now feel more confident with chord changes and strumming. The course was very enjoyable, because you made it fun. There was no pressure, but it was still stimulating and challenging. You have excellent organisational and interpersonal skills. I also enjoyed the social aspect, meeting new people. I think I am now ready to go on to Stage 2."

Brian, Introductory Course Graduate

"I absolutely loved these classes, plenty of fun energy, upbeat, a great pace and kept me engaged along the whole way. I was amazed how quickly I managed to pick up the concepts quickly. I've virtually had no musical experience prior so was a bit apprehensive that I may not be able to keep up."
