Workshops & Special Events

As often as we can, we try to provide enrichment opportunities for all our students and the wider ukulele community.  If you know of a visiting national or international artist or ukulele teacher (or you ARE one yourself) who may be heading to Sydney, please let us know and we will try to arrange something for our Northern Beaches ukulele community!

Thanks Paul!

The Wild Women of Anywhere Beach - Tuesday, 9 April 2019, Narrabeen

As a duo, Cathy Welsford and Angie Smith have performed together for 30 years, singing their way through numerous political upheavals, cultural revolutions and just plain standing up against injustice! Peter Moss (UK) - Workshop & Concert - Friday, 25 May 2017, Manly Vale Community Centre

A workshop for intermediate/advanced players. Performers like James Hill, Jake Shimabukuro and Taimane Gardner use this style where the ukulele oozes out rhythm, melody and harmony (chords) all at the same time! During the second half of the session, Peter will perform several styles of music on ukulele/banjolele with his free-flowing chord/melody style.

The Combined Ukulele Ensembles of Sydney - Saturday, 19 March 2016, Macquarie Centre

Members of the Lightly Strung Orchestra joined in a 90 strong ukulele ensemble formed by players across Sydney and beyond. Ukesters from as far as the Blue Mountains, The Central Coast and down to the Sutherland Shire had a rip roaring time at this combined ensemble gig. Fantastic stuff gang!

The LSO in concert with Daniel Ho - Wednesday, 9 July 2014

The Lightly Strung Orchestra and Northern Beaches Ukulele Gang performed at the Warringah Mall Dolphin Court stage as the support act for the visiting Hawaiian ukulele virtuoso Daniel Ho. Both groups did a SPLENDID job with many performing in public for the very first time! Such a wonderful concert. Very proud indeed!
